Experience You Can Trust. Leadership That Delivers.
About Rae ________
I was first appointed to the Board of Education in 2020 to fill a vacancy and later ran for election, winning a full term in 2022. I served in multiple leadership capacities on the Board since 2022, including Chairperson of the Policy Committee, two terms as Vice President and a term as the Board President, roles that naturally placed her in positions to shape agenda and highlight the importance of transparent communication.
I am a parent of two FCPS students in elementary and middle school, giving me direct insight and experience into FCPS from my own family’s perspective. Like many parents, I have navigated the complexities of having a student with special education needs when my daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia in third grade.
I hold a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from Kalamazoo College. My professional experiences stem from over 20 years in the nonprofit sector in education and youth development, including roles focused directly on implementing curriculum in schools and supporting communities across the state of Maryland.
Vote to re-elect Rae Gallagher to the Frederick County Board of Education.
Our students deserve nothing less.
My Approach ________
The Board of Education is made up of seven elected residents from Frederick County, with a range of experiences and interactions with education. While each individual brings their own interests, priorities, and understanding regarding governing principles, the Board must work together as a cohesive group in order to accomplish anything. I have always maintained a commitment to student-centered policies and worked to enhance educational outcomes for all learners. I advocated for equity, inclusion, and policies that support a broad range of student needs and backgrounds.
I focus on transparency, communication, and community collaboration to ensure decision-making is clear and accessible. This includes implementing community listening sessions on a quarterly basis around Frederick County to interact directly with students, parents, and staff members. My experience with educational and community issues provides me with a broad view of how schools interact with families and community partners, which has been an asset when creating policies that affect both students and staff.
My commitment to community leadership remains - I will continue to advocate for increased investment in all of our educators and staff while offering a balanced, thoughtful perspective as we face the challenges in public education ahead.
